Little Things Make a Bigger Impact – Replay

As professional service-providers, we are all doing everything we can to figure out how to make the most impact on our prospects and clients. In today’s vlog replay, Dean suggests that the answer doesn’t have to be in the big picture, but sometimes in the smaller details.

The Impact You’re Looking For Might Be Smaller Than You Think

There’s a question most of us carry, whether we say it out loud or not:

What impact am I actually making?

Did what I do matter? Did it justify my time, my effort, my existence?

And when we ask that question, we often look in one place—the big things.

The major accomplishments. The visible wins. The large-scale outcomes.

But I think we’re often looking in the wrong place.

Why We Miss the Real Impact

It’s not that big accomplishments don’t matter. They do.

But they’re not the only place impact lives.

In fact, some of the most meaningful impact we create happens in small, everyday moments—the ones we barely notice.

This is something we talk about often in leadership presence coaching and executive presence coaching. The way you show up in a moment—the tone, the energy, the care—can ripple far beyond what you see.

A Simple Moment That Changed Everything

I remember being in a gas station late one night.

The mood was off. The line was tense. The person working the register looked worn down. The customers felt impatient.

It was one of those environments where negativity just feeds on itself.

And in that moment, I made a simple choice: bring warmth.

I slowed down. I treated the person at the counter with genuine respect. I acknowledged them. I engaged.

And something shifted.

You could see it in their face. You could feel it in their response.

Then I stepped aside and watched.

The next interaction was better. Then the next one. Then the next.

Within a few minutes, the entire tone of that small environment had changed.

The Ripple Effect of Presence

That’s the kind of impact we often overlook.

Not because it’s insignificant—but because it’s subtle.

In our Presence Coaching and business speaking work, we emphasize that your presence is not neutral. It affects people.

Every interaction either lifts the room—or lowers it.

And those effects compound.

This is true in leadership meetings, in client conversations, in group presentation coaching environments, and even in everyday moments like standing in line at a store.

Small Actions, Big Outcomes

We tend to think impact requires scale.

But often, it just requires intention.

Bringing warmth. Showing appreciation. Making eye contact. Being present.

These are simple behaviors—but they are also the foundation of confident presence and leadership confidence training.

And they are available to you in every moment.

Rethinking What “Counts”

If you measure your impact only by large achievements, you will miss most of the difference you make.

But if you start to notice the smaller moments—the tone you set, the energy you bring, the way you treat people—you’ll see something different.

You’ll see that impact is happening all the time.

This perspective also strengthens how you show up in executive presentation coaching and leadership communication. Because the same principles apply: people respond to how you make them feel, not just what you say.

The Simplest Way to Make a Difference

If you’re looking for a way to create more impact, start here:

  • Bring warmth into your next interaction
  • Treat people with genuine respect
  • Stay present, even in small moments

It doesn’t cost anything.

It doesn’t require a major platform.

And it has the potential to change more than you think.

Let It Carry Forward

In many ways, this is the simplest version of “pay it forward.”

You bring something positive into a moment, and it continues beyond you.

You may never see how far it goes.

But that doesn’t make it any less real.

So if you’re wondering about the impact you’re making, don’t just look at the big milestones.

Look at the small moments.

Because that’s where a lot of the real difference happens.
