About this event

Monday, September 15, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

In partnership with the Biltmore Village Merchant Association, we invite you to join local leaders for an insightful walking tour of Biltmore Village and explore the ongoing impact of Hurricane Helene on this historic community. Walk alongside Illya Azaroff, FAIA, incoming president-elect of AIA National, and hear from local experts as we visit key sites that illustrate resilience in action. Start at The Cathedral of All Souls and hear from local industry experts, Martha Fullington, retired representative of North Carolina & South Carolina State Historic Preservation Offices & Jennie Gwin, AIA, Partner, Beyer Blinder Belle Architects & Planners,, as they share the reconstruction plans and the challenges as they resurrect the Cathedral.  Next, you’ll make your way down through the Village, passing the recently constructed 10 Brook Street—designed with sustainability and resiliency at its core—and finish at 7 Boston Way, home to the McGeahy Building, one of the few structures in Biltmore Village, other than the Cathedral, listed on the National Historic Registry. Chuck Krekelberg, from Altura Architects will briefly talk about the renovations made in the early 2000s.  The tour concludes with lunch at Corner Kitchen, a beloved local restaurant newly renovated following storm damage.
